A Note from Ryan
I pray, as we approach Easter Sunday, that this Holy Week has been blessing to you. I pray that as we have traveled through our current series "Giving Up", looking at some of the things God calls us to give up so that we can grow closer to Him, that the Holy Spirit has been speaking to you, prompting you to take steps closer to Christ.
This week as we discussed God's call to "Give Up" our Enemies, I can't help but think of Jesus at the Last Supper. It was Thursday of Holy Week that Jesus got the disciples together for the Passover meal. After the meal, Jesus washes the feet of his disciples, setting the example for the service He called each of them to embody after He leaves.
What has always stood out to me is that Jesus washed Judas' feet as well. The passage says that the devil had already prompted Judas to betray Jesus (John 13:1–17), yet Jesus performed this humble service for all the disciples regardless. Jesus noted that “not every one of you” was clean, knowing who was going to betray him (John 13:1–17), but Jesus served Judas anyway. Jesus extended the same act of love to Judas as to the faithful disciples.
By example, Jesus shows us that in the Kingdom He is building, we are called to serve and love everyone, even our enemies. Even when people show you nothing but contempt and hate, Jesus calls us to show them love. How is God trying to use you to show His love to the people who are farthest from Him?
I look forward to seeing you this Friday any time between 4-6 PM for our Good Friday serve (self-guided).
I pray that God has given you the opportunity and courage to ask your ONE to join us Easter Sunday. We'll have a community celebration at 9 AM with an egg hunt, crafts, breakfast, and the bounce house, followed by service at 10 AM. I look forward to worshipping our Risen Lord with all of you.
As always, my door is always open. If you’d like to talk about anything, give me a call, shoot me an e-mail (Ryan.Hanson@TheLightKC.org), or stop by the church.
Looking forward to worshiping with you all Sunday at 10:00 AM,
Ryan Hanson

Re-Watch Sunday's Message
Message 3 in the sermon series "Giving Up" by Ryan Hanson titled "Enemies"
Do you have someone in your life that you just can’t seem to get along with? Do you have someone that you would consider an enemy? The sad truth is that it is easy to see differences and view others as enemies or less than us in some way. We all make quick judgments about people, generalizations about people groups, and when hurt by a specific person we hold grudges far too easily. But this is not God's plan for humanity. God wants unity. God wants all people to know the love that He has for them and accept the free gift of salvation that is available to them through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Today, we are going to look at God's call for us to "GIVE UP" the idea that it is okay for us to have ENEMIES in our lives.
