A Note from Ryan
As a pastor, one of my favorite mid-week activities is setting up the baptismal. It's not glamorous work, but I know that it means that someone on Sunday is going to make their decision to give their life to Jesus public. The trajectory of their life has been changed. Being present for someone's baptism and celebrating what God has done and will continue to do in their lives is an honor that I hope none of us take lightly. I thank God for the work He's doing in and through this congregation. I celebrate the decision that David and Grace made to be baptized. I pray that God continues to work in and through TheLightKC to bring more and more people into His family and help them experience the fullness of life that He desires we all have.
I also want say thank you to the ~25 people who braved the un-forecasted rain and joined us for water Wednesday. We got more water than we bargained for and experienced some indoor fellowship, but God gave us a window and rain free weather where we did get to go outside, enjoy the pool, grill, and hang out.
As I have been thinking through last Sunday's topic on God adopting, yesterday was a great reminder of the family that God adopts us into. Families aren't perfect, plans rarely go as expected, but the people we're with and the relationships we're building matter far more than what we're doing. I pray that as we all sit in the truth of God as a God that Adopts, the truth of what that truly means can become clear to us all.

There are 7,192 children in foster care in Kansas. Of those kids 652 are in group homes, or run away and unaccounted for. Each year 350-400 kids in Kansas age out of the foster care system without anyone to love them, feeling unwanted, and without a support system. And life without those things is hard. At times we are all like these kids who age out of the system; feeling unloved, unwanted, and with nobody to turn to. But...we serve a God that doesn't just save us from our sins for a life in Heaven, God welcomes us into his family for a new life now. We serve a God that adopts.
